Meet “The Honest Mom”

Hey friend,

You probably landed on this page because you are wondering who is this “Honest Mom” person with an old lady name like Peg?

I’m glad you asked.

My name is actually Margaret, but my parents decided to make every introduction of my life confusing and permanently called me Peggy (or Peg). If you want to know whether to call me Peggy or Peg, the answer is I really don’t care. I just told someone at some point to call me Peg because they made me pick one and it kind of stuck. Also, for a few years in college, everyone called me “Scout” but that’s a story for another day…

First came marriage…

During my junior year of college, I somehow convinced this super handsome, brilliant, hilarious, defensive lineman named Nicholas Patrick to propose to me. This is probably why I’m now in Sales. Nick is my best friend and the absolute best life partner I could have ever hoped for. Marriage is not always easy though (#understatement). In fact, I wrote a series about a really tough season we have been through, and by God’s grace, have lived to see the other side.

Then came the baby carriage

Nick and I became parents sooner than we had originally planned. We welcomed our first son into the world when we were just barely twenty five. A few years later, we had our second son and thought maybe our family was complete. But God had different plans…

And then we decided to do foster care…

After several years of tossing around the idea of adoption and praying about whether God wanted us to grow our family, we finally realized God was calling us to foster care around March 2018. We began the foster care licensing process in summer 2018 and were licensed in early 2019. We have had one foster son that joined our family in May 2019, but right now we provide respite care to he and several of his siblings.

What else is there to know?

I love Jesus and desire to be more like Him, and I’m always up for talking about faith and theology. I love working full-time, which was new for me as of March 2019. I work as a recruiter and LOVE my job. Fun fact: I joined the same recruiting firm Nick works at, so we are co-workers!

Things I love…

When I’m not at work, I love doing anything outdoors with my boys and I’m always up for a trip to a coffee shop. If I had to pick one food to live off of it would definitely be tacos, but they would have to be loaded up with avocado, jalapenos and hot sauce. I love reading and listening to podcasts. I also love watching TV, working on home projects and taking care of my plant babies.

Things I hate…

I hate dishonesty, weak coffee, getting overly hot, when my nails are long and unsalted tortilla chips.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I’d love to meet YOU, so please leave a comment below introducing yourself!
